Go 2 Nymph

I first saw this pattern when I was at the fly shop in St. Albans.  Mr. Lewis showed me the Go2 series out of a fly fisherman magazine from years past.  He said it is a twist on some regular patterns.  I now have great success on the Pheasant Tail version.  Rick Takahashi is the creator of them (as well as the RS2, which is a great series of flies, too).  I used this fly for the first time on a Fayette County stream and caught several fish.  I regularly attach a dropper (#18 Brassie) to the fly.

Recipe

Mustad S82-3906B #12-18
Cyclops bead 1/8 gold
Gold wire
Spectra-blend nymph dubbing peacock
Hareline dubbing dark olive brown
Para post, white
Hungarian partridge-dyed olive
Olive hare's mask

Step 1

Tie on thread
Cut and measure cheek hair on the mask and tie on
Tie wire in
Dub olive brown 3/4 of the hook
wrap wire and tie off

Step 2

Cut one hook shank size of para post
Tie in on top of the hook shank

Step 3

Get a partridge feather and measure it by hook size.
Tie and wrap two turns above just above the para post.

Step 4

Dub some of the spectra-blend peacock dubbing to the bead head.

Step 5

Whip finish or half hitch the fly
Dab the knot with head cement
You're done!
