WV Fishing Etiquette
Check regulations before entering stream and make sure your fishing correctly with the stream regulations.
Be considerate to the property along the stream and be respectful to the land and stream in not littering or tearing up the property.
Use only the legal bait or lures for the stream you are fishing.
Be courteous of those already fishing in the stream. Walk behind other anglers as much as possible when they are fishing and out of the stream as much as possible keeping water disturbances down to a minimum.
Give other anglers space. If they already already fishing a run do not try to squeeze in move on to another spot and leave them undisturbed.
Do not spook another anglers fish. Fish are easily spooked and people should approach them with caution.
Do not leave things on the stream such as lure packages, candy wrappers, cans, or bottles. Pack in and pack out!
Be very careful around spawning fish and avoid there redds and actively spawning fish.
Report environmental damage to the correct authorities.
Report poaching, game and fish violations the correct authorities.
Properly handle and release fish that you do not intend to keep.
Respect other anglers and help them on the streams if you can.
