Friends of the Elk River Cleanup 2003

WVAnglers And COs Coming Together to Clean the Elk River of Garbage and Poaching

The 2003 Friends of the Elk River Cleanup was one for the memory books!!  We have finally reached our third and biggest year by far.  It all started three years ago with a meager and helping crowd of a little over 10 people who cleaned up a river and ate hotdogs afterwards.  This year we made it big time with Texas Roadhouse providing BBQ ribs and chicken  and the Brazenhead Inn providing side dishes, thanks to those folks they made this year a great success.  This year was an event of WVAnglers and WV Conservation Officers coming together to clean up the river from garbage and poachers.  The COs were kind enough to stop by and spend some time discussing things with us and eating a few ribs thanks for all the work guys!  This year we also hit a number of around 50 fine folks on the river.   We all came together on a rainy day, it seems that always happens when its cleanup time on the elk for some reason, but we came together to pick up a massive pile of garbage.  Its amazing how much garbage a few dedicated sportsman can take from a small 2 mile stretch of water.  Thanks again to all who participated in this most awesome day.  If you missed the event this year you truly missed one of the best events of the year for WVAnglers as there was people from all over the mountain state and I believe people from 5 states.  Next years event is already planning to be a bigger and better event as we have already had sponsors show interest so stay tuned to WVAngler.com for more info but until them see you on the Elk with all our friends!  Hope you enjoy the fine pictures.
