CDC Comparadun Sulpher

Joe Webb - Bugfisher

Hook: #16 Orvis Extra Fine Dry Fly Hook
Thread: Underbody/Egg sac: 6/0 Hot Orange, Thorax/Head: 8/0 Rust
Tail: Tan Microfibbets
Body: Kreinik Silk Dubbing, Yellow
Wing: 2 Natural/Gray CDC feathers
Notes: Tie Hot Orange thread on hook two eye-lengths back from eye. Wrap back to hook shank; use several wraps to create small thread egg sac. Tie in tails on either side of hook, wrapping forward to tie-in point to form body. Wrap back to hook shank & sparsely dub forward to half-way point. Tie off Hot Orange thread with Rust thread. Wrap forward to tie-in point & add CDC wings, facing forward over hook eye by one shaft length. Wrap back over butt ends to halfway point, clip off butts, dub forward to wing base, creating a taper. Cross in front of wing base and pull wings back. Continue to dub forward, tapering down toward eye. Whip finish. Can be fished as a dry or emerger (don't add floatant for emerger), or wings can be spread to fish as a spinner (thus the egg sac). Plus, Larry Orr tells me orange thread is good on everything!
