When using the new GX2 thread one should place a bit of cement
on the thread after application After cement is dried tie in tinsel and wrap
forward keeping tinsel flat completely covering the hook to where the wings will
be tied in. Next tie in 6-8 strands crystal flash On top of this location tie in
rabbit strip. The strip should be approximately 1.5-2 times the hook length. Now
cut and stack a thick portion of deer hair. After stacking measure tips to about
1/2 the length of shank. Tie in at this point. Cinch thread down snug
flaring the hair uniformly. Now cut a clump of hair remove the fine under hair
and cut off the tips. Lay the clump against the hook and wrap thread
tightly causing the hair to flare and spin around the hook. Add a second
clump if necessary. Whip finish and cement the head. Cut head to
shape using a double edged razor blade.
This fly is fished in numerous ways. It has been very effective for me in
natural, black and olive.
